Repaint the body, the trim, the door or the shutters

Each change is a ready task in the Studio. Pick one, or add several to the same design for a full two-tone scheme.

Body colour

Body colour

The walls get the new colour. Siding stays siding, the windows and the roof stay as in the photo.

Trim and window frames

Trim and window frames

Black, white or graphite trim changes the character of the house more than you would expect.

Front door

Front door

The cheapest upgrade with the biggest effect on curb appeal. Try a deep green, a navy or a red door.

Shutters

Shutters

Shutters in a new colour next to every window — sized to the openings the house already has.

The white house with black trim at the top of the page is one design with two tasks: the body colour and the trim.

Brick stays brick, siding stays siding

Only the colour changes. The texture of the finish, the light and the shadows stay, so the result looks like a painted house, not a flat filter.

Your own paint code

Type the colour exactly as you have it

A colour name, a HEX code, a RAL code or the name of a paint from the store — the same house in three colours from three kinds of code:

Original
Original
HEX #C26B4D
HEX #C26B4D

A HEX code is sent to the model as an exact colour sample.

RAL 7035 light grey
RAL 7035 light grey

RAL Classic codes are recognised and sent as a colour sample.

Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog

A brand colour is read by name: the shade is the model's approximation.

We don't have the manufacturers' official fan decks, so brand colour names are approximated. For a closer match, add the HEX code from the paint maker's website next to the name.

How to paint your house on a photo

  1. 1

Upload a photo of your house

A daylight photo of the front, taken straight on, with the whole facade in the frame. A phone photo is enough.

  2. 2

    Type the colour

The Studio opens with the “Paint the house” task. Write a colour name, a HEX or RAL code or a brand colour. Add “Trim & window frames”, “Front door color” or “Shutters” if you want.

  3. 3

    Compare and choose

You get the same house in the new colour. Try the next colour on the same photo, compare before and after, download the one you like.

Before you buy the paint

Shoot in soft daylight

An overcast day or the shade side gives true colours. Harsh noon sun and deep shadows make every colour look different.

One colour per design

Compare three or four candidates on the same photo rather than asking for everything at once — the differences are easier to see.

Think about the fixed parts

The roof, the stone and the brick usually stay. Pick a body colour that works with them — the preview shows exactly that.

Test a sample on the wall

A screen is not paint. Use the preview to choose the direction, then paint a sample on the wall and look at it in the morning and in the evening.

  • Yes. Sign in with Google or email (no card) and you get 6 free credits — that is 3 designs; each colour you try is one design of 2 credits. Free results carry a small genroom.io watermark. One-time packs start at $9.99 for 36 credits and remove it.
  • The “Paint the house” task repaints the walls and keeps the architecture of the building: the windows, the roof, the doors and the garden stay as in the photo. The trim, the door and the shutters change only when you add those tasks. If a detail still changed, fix it with an edit in words or with a brush — editing is included in every plan.
  • Yes. HEX codes and RAL Classic codes are sent to the model as an exact colour sample. Paint brand names such as Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore are read by name: we don't have the manufacturers' official colour fan decks, so the shade is approximated. Add the HEX code from the paint maker's website next to the name for a closer match.
  • Yes. Add “Paint the house” and “Trim & window frames” to the same design for a two-tone house. Add “Front door color” and “Shutters” for a full exterior scheme in one result.
  • Yes. Only the colour changes, the material stays: brick stays brick with its texture visible through the paint, stucco stays stucco, siding keeps its boards. It works on houses, townhouses and small commercial buildings.
  • Close enough to choose a direction, not to replace a sample. The same paint looks different in the morning, in the evening and on a screen. Pick two or three favourites here, then test samples on the wall before you buy.
  • A daylight photo of the front of the house, taken straight on from the street, with the whole facade in the frame and no strong shadows. A normal phone photo is enough. Cars or people in front of the house cover the walls and make the result less clear.
  • Yes. Every colour you try becomes a new variant of the same photo in the same work. Switch between the variants and compare each one with the original before you decide.
  • Yes. Commercial use is allowed on every plan. Painters show the client the house in the chosen colour before the job, realtors show buyers what a fresh coat of paint would do.
